Auto synchronized
It will be cool if lds tools automatic synchronize or updates it's self every Three days.

I think the reason is to force the user to supply the password to insure the proper person has the device.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.
