Print list of members without patriarchal blessing

#1

Post by joshblaine »

I am a ward clerk and my Bishop wants me to print out a list of youth age 12 to 18 without a patriarchal blessing.
Is this even possible?

Last I heard, that information isn't recorded in the membership record (at least the part that the unit has).

If so, the only way to find out is to ask them.

This same issue has come up with one of the wards in our stake, and I wanted to see if anything has changed in the last 3 years. It would be great to be able to search on the members without a patriarchal blessing. I looked at the custom reports, and this wasn't one of the fields that you could select.

I believe the only way to get that information is still to ask each individual and build your own list. I don't think anyone on this user forum knows the reason the church doesn't make it available to the wards, but it is what it is.

When a member requests a copy of their patriarchal blessing through the Patriarchal Blessing tool on the Church website, there's some manual lookup that needs to be done to be able to find the blessing. That may indicate that patriarchal blessings aren't (or until recently weren't) associated with membership records – so until all patriarchal blessings are associated with membership records, any report showing which members have a patriarchal blessing would be incomplete. (This may or may not be the main reason, but it seems like a likely reason.)

This recently came up in a Stake Bishops meeting. It seems that this isn't made available as the church will only record saving ordinances on a membership record. Again the advice given to the Bishops was to create your own list in the Wards and keep on top when youth move up or when new members are baptised. However another Bishop brought up that a patriarchal blessing isn't on the new/returning member check list, as he said it's not always something pushed on to receive but for members to seek out.

I was looking for an answer to this and found that actually there is now a report on LCR to print the list.
It doesn't show up in custom reports but if you go to reports tab there is a "patriarchal blessing status report" in the list.

Yes, there's another thread that covers this same topic, and somebody just recently posted the same answer!

Seeing which members have a partriarchal blessing
