Tags vs. Notebooks - What's the difference?

Discussions about the Notes and Journal tool on LDS.org. This includes the Study Toolbar as well as the scriptures and other content on LDS.org that is integrated with Notes and Journal.

I created notebooks for each gospel topic that was meaningful for me (e.g, repentance, worth of souls, etc.). I used the tags to identify the source (general conference, scriptures, Teachings of the Prophets, etc.). I did all of this from my desktop using the Safari browser. Of course, many of the notes I have captured from these sources are relevant to multiple topics and in earlier versions of the notes tool I could edit notes and assign them to multiple notebooks. Over the past couple of years while this tool has been updated I seem to have lost the ability to do so. Earlier in this forum I saw where austindanielsmith mentioned that he can assign notes to multiple notebooks. Maybe I just haven't figured out how to do that. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! I feel like I have lost much of the value of a resource I have carefully developed over years.

You can add an annotation to multiple notebooks using the latest version of the online study tools.
1. Find the annotation at Notes.LDS.org. If you created or edited it recently, it should be near the top of the "All" tab (first tab in the left column).
2. Click the annotation to open it on the right.
3. Find the "Add to notebook" field at the top of the annotation.
4. Type the name of each notebook you want to add it to (choose them one at a time).

You can also add an annotation to multiple notebooks in Gospel Library for Android – but not in Gospel Library for iOS. I'm not sure about Gospel Library for Windows.

Since the feature is inconsistent between platforms, it's not entirely future-proof, but for now it should continue to work.

Thanks for the help. I can see what I was doing wrong. I was clicking on it, expecting it to open a drop-down box but instead I was getting the text insertion symbol. It never occurred to me to type a character, which then opens that drop-down box. Silly me. Thanks!
