Signature Cards - Online

I checked on LCR and it seems like we are no longer required to mail in the signature cards anymore and we can simply upload them on LCR. Is this correct? I always thought the signature cards were something the banks reconciled against when verifying the signatures on the checks against.

I'm sure that's true. But I'm also sure they'd rather pull up a scanned image rather then go hunt it down in a file cabinet. I don't see how uploading the image is any less valid - as long as you're not filling it out electronically.

It’s confusing because the paper instructions still say to mail it in but also allows you to upload it. I’m hoping that by uploading it, headquarters can retrieve it online instead of mailing it in and then they can upload it. I just want to make sure that we are no longer required to mail it into Salt Lake Headquarters and only uploading is sufficient.

Uploading is fine and that's what LCR instructs you to do. I've done it twice in the last few months and have had no problems.

I cannot find where to actually do the upload of the signature card. Any instructions on how to get to it and actually upload it?

I don't have access now but I believe the upload option shows up after you 'print' the card (or at least click the button that shows the PDF). But I also seem to remember that I had problems getting that option using Chrome so you might try Edge or Firefox instead.

Go to
LCR >
Finance >
Reports >
Signature Cards then click the
Update Card button. Click the
Print button. Since you are trying to upload the new card just click the
Cancel button on the print dialogue box. The "Signature Card Instructions" section will be replaced by the "Upload signed card here" section on the web page.
The design of the page intended that the printing of the updated card, signatures, and upload of the new signed card would happen in one session. That part needs more thinking/programming to be intuitive and more user friendly for multiple session use. I have sent in feedback about this issue.

Do we need to take the actual signature card in to our local bank as well? Or, if we upload it to LCR and it shows as pending, is that all we need to do?

That depends on how the local account is used. If you're like most units, it's strictly a depot account. The checks are written on a bank in SLC. So, I don't think the local bank needs a signature card.
I say that because there may be some units, especially outside of the US, that have been directed to have local accounts.
