Absolutely no difference. All MRN’s appears to have 11 numbers. The last digit can be a letter or number. My own MRN has a letter.

The last character in a membership record number is a check digit that's used to verify whether the number as a whole is valid. To properly check the rest of the number, there need to be 11 possible values for the check digit. Because 0–9 only provides 10 possible digits, A is added as the 11th possible digit.

Note that the check digit doesn't verify if a given number is in use, it only verifies that the number follows the correct pattern such that it could be a valid number.
