Contact Temple Department?

Postby lewynn » Tue Jul 07, 2020 7:53 am

Just wondering if it is possible to contact the Temple Department. Had a question regarding the Tooele Utah Temple and was wondering if it was possible to contact them.

Thank you very much.

At this point I would think most questions that can be answered about the Tooele Valley Utah Temple would have been answered in Church News articles. After all, it has been announced and the site has been selected, but there is no groundbreaking date set. Some renderings of the three-story, 70,000 square foot temple are available online. The Tooele County Zoning Commission approved the zoning plan in May. But that is about it.

I would not recommend it, but I suppose one could call the Church switchboard and ask for the Temple Department. That may be as far as you get, although I am sure they will be nice about it.

Thanks,
I sorta figured. All the stuff going on about referendum and all I just wanted to ask if they would put the Angel Moroni on it. From the renderings when you look across from the west toward the temple it just looks like a big office building. A pretty one, but still sort of officey. I think it would make a big difference if it had the Angel on top.

From The Salt Lake Tribune
The Washington County Temple will have a golden Angel Moroni statue atop its steeple, the renderings show, while the Tooele Valley one will not. More and more of the church’s recently announced temples are being built without this iconic figure,

No idea why the difference.

There are 29 temples without an Angel Moroni. I do not know how the decision is made. Some are recent, and some are very old.

If you feel strongly about it, a word to your bishop or stake president could be passed up through priesthood channels, but I think the First Presidency, who decide these things, have a pretty good idea whether or not they wish to have an Angel Moroni on a temple, and I have been seeing more and more recently without one. I hope that is not a new trend, but you never know.

Looking at the rendering I have seen of the Tooele Valley Utah Temple, I do not think I would mistake if for just an office building, unless you have some pretty nice stuff out there already. [smile]

Oh I know. I've seen the ones without it. This one just looks too businessy in the setting it is in. Probably just personal sentiment.
