How to enter ministering couples

#1

Post by hgwilliam »

We have many married couples who minister together as partners in our ward, but in order for Elders and RS presidencies to have same access, we have been putting these companionships in twice -- first into Elders and then into R.S. "Current Companionships." This makes the assignment show up twice on each member's tools page, and also does not allow RS to assign additional sisters companionships to visit without deleting the ministering couple. Is there a better way to do this? Is there a way to get the Elder's assignments to transfer to the Sisters assignments without double entering them?

This is as expected. Remember that ministering Elder Quorum companionships are for households while ministering Relief Society companionships are for RS sisters. Therefore, in Member Tools, both the 'Ministering Brothers' and 'Ministering Sisters' are displayed for a sister. When both the ministering brother companionship and the ministering sister companionship is a couple then the couple will be listed twice.

If you mean a third companion cannot be added to a couple companionship, then you are correct. Couple companions are intentionally set by business rules to allow only the couple in the companionship. However the sister of a couple companionship may be assigned to another RS ministering companionship.

If you mean you would like to assign another companionship to one or more of the same sisters, then the system does not allow that. Only one RS ministering companionship can be assigned to a sister. This holds true for EQ ministering companionships - only one ministering companionship per household.

Not that I can tell. You could use the feedback link to submit that suggestion. At least you may get an answer as to whether that capability was intentionally left out because of a business rule not allowing the developers to include it, or for some other reason.

I assume we're taking about a single sister here, so "sister" and "household" is one in the same.

I think the best plan would be to have the Elders assign the couple and the Relief Society to assign sisters.

While this may not give the Relief Society the best visibility into what's happening, keep in mind that's no different than any other household. Note that General Handbook 21.2 says the EQ and RS should be coordinated in Ministering.
