I have been filling in for the technology specialist in our ward for a while now. We have purchased and have been using nest cam to live stream our sacrament meetings on Sunday. This past week nest.com got added to the deny internet list. We have invested money and effort to live stream our sacrament meeting as we have been directed by the first presidency.
Can anyone please explain why this website is being blocked from streaming our meeting?
This camera can’t be returned now. Any suggestions from anyone?
I am just trying to further our dear Lords work, I really could use some help and support

Check with your STS to see if the level of filtering for your building was increased.
If it's any thing but "Moderate" (the lowest level), that would explain a lot.
Nest is a curious choice. As far as I know, it's marketed as a security device, not a webcasting device.

Re: Nest.com being blocked for sacrament live streaming
Our bishop and councillors are all technology beginners. I used this device because of it’s simplicity. He loves how simple it is to use, simply plug it in and it works. He controls it with his phone. We have been doing this for greater than 2 months. I was surprised to discover it is being blocked. There is no security risk and the members watching at home have an excellent experience. I have it attached to the pulpit temporarily and it really does not get in the way at all.

Your STS is able to ask that it be unblocked, although whether or not it will be is up to the Church.

Re: Nest.com being blocked for sacrament live streaming
My guess is that the Church relies on a third party to keep the list of blocked sites up-to-date (this is a common practice in the industry because it's a lot of work to keep track of and quickly respond to constantly-changing websites that may be objectionable). If that's the case, it may be that the company that provides the list recently added nest.com. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the Church has a way to override the list to block or allow specific websites.
