Set default volume for media?

At inopportune times, GL media starts playing the content currently showing. (It seems, as I look into it more, to be a local problem associated with my bluetooth connection, as opposed to a GL bug.) To prevent it, I'll mute the volume in the Media tab. It's an effective workaround, but every time I re-open GL, the volume is back up and must be re-muted.
Is it possible to set the default media volume to mute?
