I was opening an LDS Account for a member in my ward, and while doing that, we mistakenly typed an incomplete phone number and no email. Now the account as been created, but not verified. This mean that the account is still pending. The problem is that a code to verify the account will be send to the phone number we cannot access. The person Membership Record Number cannot be accepted to open a new account. Please how can we rectify this problem?

Ask the clerk for the phone number of the Global Service Desk (GSD).

If you recall the username you used on the account, you can go to this page:
https://account.churchofjesuschrist.org ... nformation

It will prompt you for the username you used to register and if correct, there should be an option to change the number you used to register.

I don't think you can get to that page unless you log in as that account.

A clerk is not going to be able to use that to help a member of the ward.

Edit: That page works a bit differently then I thought. It would be interesting to see what it does with an unverified account.

Actually, if you go to that URL today and enter the username they used during registration - the app will check the account to see if they need to verify their email or SMS and allow them to do so (or change those if they entered them incorrectly and then help them verify the new email/SMS). It will also check if your account needs parental consent and help you with that.

In the next few weeks - we'll be adding that link directly on the recovery page so people can find it easier - something like "Why can't I sign in?". After prompting the user for their username, it will check their account for verification issues, parental consent issues, and potentially unlock their account if it's in a locked state. Hopefully this will help with a lot of the sign-in issues. :)
