I was recently called as the STS / Stake Technology Specialist, probably because I've been in software, web development, and tech since the early 1990s. I've worked at Microsoft, Ernst & Young, Sony, and some other small businesses, as well as consulting projects through the years. I'm not a genius, but I'm passionate about all things tech-geek.
That said, I've read the STS handbook (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/stu ... pecialist/), and it does list several things that are duties of the calling, but in the few months I've been in the calling, I've only had a few 'tech support' issues from Bishops and Clerks. The headings for things to do are:
- Use Technology to Help Hasten the Lord’s Work
- Ensure That Equipment Is Available and Secure
- Know How to Set Up and Operate Meetinghouse Technology
Shortly after getting the calling, there was a Stake Bishopric training, and I was invited to the meeting. The Stake Presidency introduced me, and explained what I was going to be doing... and I'm listed in the Stake directory under the Stake Presidency organization. I just don't feel like I'm contributing, or helping the Stake enough.
So... what ideas do you all have for ways to magnify my calling as the STS? Thanks in advance.
