Conference ical file

Post by RBeatse »

Has anyone found an iCal file that just updates General Conference (I don't need EVRY broadcast by the church that gets listed on the "Churchwide" calendar)? I am trying to update a family Google calendar and want to make sure everyone remembers when Conference is. Or does anyone know how to write an iCal specification that says annually on the first Sat and Sun of October and April (o even one for each)?
I'm killing myself here trying here to make it work!  !

An interesting exercise, but keep in mind that General Conference can move around a bit.

The most memorable is when it was moved so as not to conflict with the Olympics closing event when it was held at Utah. But I think there's been at least one other.

There's also been significant changes, with the Saturday sessions.

I agree. That is why I wish there was an iCal feed from the Church so that you could add it to the calendar and if anything “officially” changed, it would show.

Usually conference is on the first Sunday in April or October, and the preceding Saturday (so, for example, October 2017 General Conference was on September 30th and October 1st). This makes it difficult to automatically set up in a standard calendar app. Because General Conference is only twice a year, it will probably be easiest to just manually copy/paste the event to the correct days for the next few years.
