Send a Message in Applications question

#1

Post by waynegaylord »

A sister in our ward has recently been called as the RS Service Coordinator. She asked me why she doesn't have access to mass contact info (email addresses) for the Sisters somewhere. In Applications I see she doesn't have access to Send a Message. Only the RS Presidency does. Why is that? I have a couple ideas why but would like to understand the process. She wants to send emails when needed to all or selected sisters. What can she do?

If that calling isn't listed as having access to Send A Message, she can forward the email to a member of the RS Presidency.

I believe only ward council members have access to Send a Message. I'm not seeing the service coordinator as belonging to that group.

Note that access is worked out by the committees at Church Headquarters and applies to all units. What might be desirable for your ward, may not be desirable for other wards.

I'd imagine that the service coordinator has to work with the presidency for approval for whatever she comes up with. Giving them access to messaging could result in some coordinators to start to work independently.

I understand. I see now that she can forward messages to someone in the presidency and they can send a group text. That way the presidency knows what and when something is sent. Thank you.
