Can you elaborate? It sounds like someone was trying to make it easy for the few and made it more complex for the many.

Even if the calling is the same, wouldn't its dominion be different?

Each position type has a single name. For example Relief Society President is the same position type in the Ward and in the Branch. But at the stake/district level they wanted it to be Stake Relief Society President so there are 2 position types. Stake Relief Society President and District Relief Society President. The id's behind those 2 positions are different.

And of course, the reason to call her the "Stake Relief Society President" was to distinguish her from the Ward Relief Society President. Since there are Technology Specialists at the ward level, I'd think we'd be in the same situation. In both cases, the powers and responsibilities are different.

I know. i asked and did what I was told in the end. My guess is that we will refer to them as Stake Technology Specialists and Ward Technology Specialists

I still don't understand the handbook where it says the Ward Technology Specialist works under the direction of the ExecSec.... at the stake level it's the clerk, why would it be different?

I predict wards now doing all sorts of crazy things, imagine all the money they could spend on technology, imagine every meetinghouse having unique and different tech setup, I can't wait for the future complete mess we make of things.

Reading the Handbook, I see very different roles. The STS works on the technology and infrastructure. The WTS helps the users.

None of this has kept ward or stakes from doing crazy things in the past.

I see how that makes sense as well. I just don't think that Bishops who want to do something will ever ask the stake again, they'll just 'direct' their Ward TS to do it, that's a lot of pressure, not many of us are good and pushing back on something wrong.

Well, when I was a ward clerk and was asked to do something that didn't sound right, I talked to my trainer, the stake clerk, who of course had the ear of the stake president.

The trainer for the WTS is the STS, who also manages resources (like the ward computer and network). As such, I see a very similar "feedback loop".
