Invalid Routing Number

I'm setting up my daughter's account so she can pay tithing online. I'm having her use my bank account information and the church website is telling me that the Mountain America Credit Union routing number is invalid? 324079555. It's what I used to set up my online tithing donation. Why won't it work for her??

If you are getting the error message at the very end of the setup, after you have also entered the account number, the error may reflect that the account is already in use (by you). I do not believe two different individuals are allowed to use the same account number at the Donations site.

Not sure if this is the issue, but you might check the info on Mountain America Credit Union's Does my account number appear differently depending on its use?

Normally, your account number will appear just like it does on your account-opening documents, as a 1-8 digit long number (e.g., 12345678). However, when setting up direct deposit or external transfers, we add the number sequence 5010 to the beginning. The account number then becomes 5010XXXXXXXX.

I'd also check with the make to make sure Electronic Funds Transfer is allowed on your account. It would have to be a checking or savings account.

I do not believe two different individuals are allowed to use the same account number at the Donations site.

I could see that being a warning, but not a requirement. Otherwise, a husband and wife can't use the same account.

It is your bank account - meaning you are registered with the bank as an authorized user. Your daughter probably needs to be added as an authorized user. Just because she is your daughter does not automatically make her an authorized user.

This is happening with the America First routing number as well. It shouldn't matter about the account if the routing number is saying it is invalid. The routing number is to inform which banking institution to withdraw from. I tried logging out and re logged in and it is still showing the America First routing number as invalid. There must be a glitch in the online donation system.

I learned a long time ago not to get too hung up on error messages. Programming proper error messages for all situations is as much, if not more work, then getting the program to work in the first place.

In other words, it might not be the routing number, but some error coming back from the bank from account inquiry that's being misinterpreted.

I get the same error. Steps to reproduce:

Login to https://donations.churchofjesuschrist.o ... #/settings
Click on the Add Donation Account button
Select Account Type - Checking or Savings, doesn't matter
Attempt to enter a valid routing number - I used 124301779 - in the Routing Number field

The field is immediately outlined in red and the message "Invalid routing number" appears in red below the field. You are unable to save the new donation account while this error condition exists. No other entries are required to get this error, so has nothing to do with an actual bank account.

There are console errors in Chrome Developer Tools when you enter a routing number. Most common is:

** UPDATE **

This appears to be caused by tracking protection. Turning off tracking protection allows the routing number to be validated properly. To disable in a Chrome variant, see that browser's help page. For Firefox, visit https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/doc ... Protection

I get the same thing. I bit of hunting and I found this page that indicates State Bank Of Southern Utah has another routing number, 124300699. That one works. The question is if that will connect you to the correct account or not. That may be worth a call to the bank to find out.

Apparently there used to be a downloadable directory of routing numbers. Which makes me wonder how the church checks the routing number. I had assumed it checked with a banking service, but perhaps a file needs to be updated.

I didn't do that, but now the original number works without any change to my browser! Perhaps someone updated it just now.
