Can't record 11-year old called as YW 12-14 class secretary

Our ward called a young woman as the class secretary for the Young Women 12-14 class -- she is currently 11 but will turn 12 during 2022. However we are unable to record her calling in LCR -- when we enter her MRN in the YW Class Secretary calling search box, we get a message "Your search by name or MRN did not return any valid results, either because the information you entered is incorrect, or because the results are not allowed in this context." Is the system preventing us from adding her as secretary for this class because she is 11, or could there be another reason?

Have you checked to make sure she is in the class?

Thanks, in fact she's not in the right class. She's still assigned to Valiant 10, and her Valiant 10 row is marked to indicate "out of default class assignment" -- is this why she wasn't automatically advanced? Is the solution to manually move her to the YM 12-14 class?

Bingo!

Since the system knows she shouldn't be there, I'd try to reset her assignment to see if it will automatically place her. If you manually advance her, you'll likely have to do the same each time.

She is out of default class assignment right now because she isn't in the correct class. We are working through an issue where some youth were not moved to the correct class at the start of the year. It's taking some time to straighten out the system causing the issue.

Edit the classes on the member profile to get her in the right place. Then you can record the position.

Thanks. I'll edit her membership manually for now -- resetting her assigned class only puts her in the 11-year old class, I'm assuming for the reason you mentioned. Thanks very much for your help!

I've done a manual edit to address a similar issue we had with an 11-year-old going into Young Women. As a result, I was able to put her in the correct YW class.

However, using the "Reset" option doesn't seem to have good results. When I did that, it blanked the class listing, and then saving meant the class went away entirely. So I only have one class left, and where there was a Primary class listed before, there is no place to put her correct Sunday School class. And there doesn't seem to be any option that allows manually adding a class.

Go to the class and add her from the class view rather than trying to make the change from the member profile. That will probably yield better results in this case.
