Missionary "Home Unit"

#1

Post by swigginton »

In the Missionary Online Recommendation System, there are 4 "units" linked to missionaries:
  • Submitting Unit - the unit where the missionary application was submitted
  • Funding Unit - where the monthly funds are drawn
  • Membership Unit - where the member records currently reside
  • Home Unit - what is this? We have missionaries whose home unit shows a prior ward, but the membership records for the missionaries and their parents are now in a new ward, different than the home ward. They have no current connection to the linked home ward. It's from the past. Any ideas?

From the MORS site: "The 'Home' unit is the ward or branch where the missionary's membership records will likely reside while the missionary is serving."
"The 'Membership' unit is the ward or branch in which the missionary's membership record currently resides." (Italics added for comparison.)

If the parents moved recently and had their missionary's record move with them then I would expect to see the home unit to change some time in the near future.

Interesting. So the Home Unit is just a prediction at the mission start and doesn't get updated during the life of the mission? I had looked in the MORS FAQ, but missed that definition, since it was hidden in a slightly different question. Thanks for the clarification.

A more common example might be a potential missionary currently in a student or singles ward at school who will likely have his or her records moved to the "home" unit once they begin serving their mission.
