Accessing CNM & CDOL

#1

Post by julz1958 »

Can anyone tell me why as a Technology Specialist I cannot access CNM or CDOL - and a number of other things that I am supposed to be able to access? I was called and set apart to the job in July and despite writing to GSD and MHT I have not had a reply on the subject. Can anyone help with WHO I need to contact. I am in New Zealand.

Are you certain your calling was recorded as a standard calling rather than as a custom calling? Are you certain your MRN is attached to your Church Account? You'll need your calling recorded as a standard calling and your MRN attached to your Church Account before you would have any access based on the calling.

With the change some months ago to move STS out from the clerk group, might there have been a change to what things an STS has access to? Hopefully someone who knows will respond.

If GSD has not replied to a written or email request, a phone call would seem to be a viable suggestion. IIUC, they are staffed to answer the phone at times convenient to New Zealand callers.

Thank you so much for answering my question somewhat.
No, I am not certain, as we have a Ward Clerk who only thinks he knows what he is doing. I don't know for sure, but I will find out as soon as is humanly possible whether he recorded it as a standard calling. I know my MRN is attached to my church account - that much I do know is right - he gave me my MRN in the first place, so I would hope that it is connected to anything to do with me.
I believe that it was because of those changes that our Bishop had me called to the job because the Ward Clerk doesn't really have a clue. I know that sounds horrible, but unfortunately in this case it is true. He only thinks he knows what he is doing when it comes to technology. The man is a fiddler - fiddles with things that he knows nothing about and makes a bigger mess for me to clean up than was there in the first place. This has been a constant problem for me since I took the calling on. I'm forever fixing things that he has made a mess of. Helping people reset their passwords because he's done stuff he shouldn't have. Decided to be "helpful" when I was installing a new computer in the Family History Centre and put in an incorrect email address - and successfully messed the whole install up to the point that I ended up doing a complete re-imaging back to first boot to fix what he messed up! So as you can see, I got a bit on my plate over here, and the access I need right now, I don't have.
So thanks again, I will get onto this right away. Julie

Stake technology specialists have access to those sites. I don't think ward technology specialists do.

You may want to review the roles of STS and WTS in the General Handbook

Also, it can take up to 24 hours after the calling is recorded before you have access.

When I was set apart in this calling I recieved an email, I can't remember who from now, but it contained a list of things I could use as tools, places I could go for help with stuff. On that list were CNM and CDOL and a few others that I couldn't access either. I tried accessing everything in that email and at least 5 of the things spat back "Access denied" error messages to me. But when you look at my Church record personal details, it gives me as Technology Specialist - it doesn't specify what kind. If I can't use these things, then why would they send me an email that says I can?

Definitely a ward TS, and the calling was recorded months ago.

I would go back and see who sent the email. If it was from a local leader, they may not know the difference. If it was from CHQ, then there's reason to call them up and ask.
