Can a non-member use Member Tools to see Ward information?

We have a married member whose spouse is a non-member, but is very active (comes every week, active in Sunday School and EQ). I know that non-members can create accounts now -- and he is properly listed as her spouse in LCR. But is there a way to give him access to Member Tools (to, for example, be able to see Ward member contact information)? Or is that not possible for a non-member?

No, that isn't possible. To access ward contact information, you have to have a membership number which is assigned to the ward and which is associated with the Church account being used. A non-member cannot have a membership number.

Ok, that is what I figured. My only "maybe" was the idea that since the spouse is tied to the member's account in LCR, then maybe it would recognize that spouse as part of the ward. Again, didn't think so, but just thought I'd check. Thanks.

I think the non-member spouse may have something that looks like a MRN assigned for tracking/linking purposes. If there's any way to make this work, that's going to be it.

Whether or not an MRN like number is used internally, I don't believe that number is visible to local units or members. So I don't think there is any way to use it to add to a member account.

I'm also not sure whether non-member spouses are assigned such a number. There was a time when they were but at that time the church also allowed for the creation of non-member records in certain circumstances. That's no longer the case.

If you can find it, it might be worth a try.

Bottom line, the MRN on the Church account is used to determine what ward (if any) the user is allowed to view. Without an MRN, you've got nothing. The only way a non-member could get access is if somehow a MRN was assigned to them. But given that you can't create non-member records, you can't go that route.

If he's that active has anyone that has a good relationship with him asked him to be baptized? Or maybe what is holding him back? Sometimes it's just a matter of asking. I recommend following the Spirit here.
