Meet - Manage Events

Post by dave.swartz »

meet.churchofjesuschrist.org has an Events section where you can manage events. Could someone please post some documentation on this feature.

When you publish an event what does it do? How is creating an event here useful to the members of the unit?

Thanks,

I called the GSC today. This functionality is still broken. The published events from meet.churchofjesuschrist.org do not still show up under broadcasts.churchofjesuschrist.org under local events. Apparently they are still working on it. In the interim our stake resorts to an unofficial website where we can publish a link to the zoom meeting. We also provide the link under the Calendar application.

An announcement came out today on this topic. In the FAQ section it states that reoccurring meetings need to be re-scheduled. I have done so and now the meetings show up in meet.churchofjesuschrist.org under events. If I publish them they now show up in broadcasts.churchofjesuschrist.org. For local events I only see the upcoming two weeks. The published Stake Conference events are not yet visible since it is three weeks away. Hopefully it will display as we get closer. Perhaps the tool is now working.

Thanks for posting! I had read that part of the notice, and our meetings don't show up. So I expected I might have to re-schedule them, and I appreciate knowing that it worked for you (meaning: if it doesn't work for me, it's probably user-error, and I'll try again...)

Broadcasts.churchofjesuschrist.org was a total disappointment today. We had the primary program during Sacrament meeting and the church website was completely non-functional. No one was able to see the webcast of the primary children singing or anything else. The Elders quorum president was very upset. We have reverted to the unofficial stake website for publishing meeting links.

Church IT staff, please fix.

The broadcasts.churchofjesuschrist.org URL does not seem to be functional. However, using the URL https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/media/broadcasts will get you to where you need to be. Published events from meet.churchofjesuschrist.org will appear on that page under 'Local Broadcasts" if you are signed in with your church account. You can also enter the event code on that page to access the broadcast. If you are not signed in or do not have an account entering the event code will still take you to the broadcast page. This method of access does not require the guest to open or use the Zoom client on their device/computer.

This is my first time using Meet and Broadcasts for a Stake Conference General Session. I didn't create the event in Meet, I scheduled and set it up in Zoom as normal. The event showed up on the Meet page and just needed to be Published to appear on the Broadcasts page. It will be interesting to see how it works out. Hopefully they can get the broadcasts URL to redirect soon

It works for me. But it does mix General Broadcasts with the local ones. I have to admit, the next broadcast being "Luz de Las Naciones: Nuestra Tierra" had me thinking I'd fallen victim to the random language bug.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

And the broadcasts URL is working for me this morning. Yesterday it was sending me to a search results page. Love random DNS glitches.

When I try to get to https://meet.churchofjesuschrist.org/ to schedule events it says 403 forbidden. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am called as both the ward Tech specialist and a stake Tech specialist as well. Did they miss a permission when they set this up or do I need to get a hold of church tech support?
