Fundraisers: How to Enter in Donations

Hi,
As per Church instructions, our Bishop authorized a fundraiser for youth camps. This was a dinner and as each family came they paid as appropriate for the number in their family for the dinner with cash or a check. So we have a sum of money that needs to be entered but there are no slips or any way to identify who paid and how much. How must this be entered in donations? Should it be put into budget for camps? If so, who should be the donor. We know there were some members from other wards at the fundraising dinner as well as a few non-members. At this point it would not be possible to determine who paid and how much. Can this be done as a bulk donation?

My personal recommendation for fundraisers it to have money paid with an slip and envelop like other donations. It's somewhat less convenient when taking the money but it ensures that all church policies are followed.

But at this point that isn't an option so you'll need to deposit it as one donation and create a non-member donor (named maybe Camp Fundraiser 2023 or something like that) for the donation. You should put it into the same budget category that you use for any other camp payments from individuals.

If you're a ward clerk, I'd suggest talking to your trainer - the stake clerk. You might also consult with an auditor.

However, at this point, it's likely water under the bridge so you'll have to do what eblood66 suggested. But you'll want to find out how it should be handled next year.
