Support request: Access to leadership training videos

#1

Post by nilbus »

On Sunday, January 28, we reconfirmed that several of the women on our stake council still do not have access or only have had intermittent access to the leadership training videos and only have access to their Summaries, even though they are the intended audience. This issue has been ongoing since prior to December 2023 when we first instructed the council to watch these. These are the videos in Gospel Library under Handbooks and Callings, Leadership Instruction, and General Conference Leadership Meeting, accessed either via the Gospel Library app or the web at https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/stu ... 3?lang=eng. We confirmed that in each case and whether on web or mobile app, the user was logged in.

The affected callings in our stake include:
- Stake RS President (could access in December but not most recently when she showed me on Jan 28)
- Stake Primary President (could not access in December but could on Jan 28)
- Stake Communication Director (never could access)
- Stake Single Adult Representative (never could access)

Callings not affected:
- Stake Young Women President
- any serving in the stake presidency or high council

We want all of these callings to have access to the training videos. Is there a better place to report this issue? Are others of you experiencing the same?

Thanks,
Edward Anderson
Stake Executive Secretary
Wilmington North Carolina Stake

Reason: Removed name of YW president - this is a public forum

The communications director isn't a standard part of Stake Council meetings (handbook 29.3.8), so is unlikely to get access unless they also have another calling that is part of it
The single adult rep also fails to populate in the stake council selector in "send a message", so any "stake council" access might not have been updated since the YSA/SA leaders were added to stake councils a while ago.

Not sure why the RS and Primary Presidents would be having issues though.

We discussed the same issue tonight in stake council. Primary president does not have access.

Would be useful for other presidency members also (Sunday School, Young Men, Young Women). Each were encouraged to review the training and return and report, and they reported their inability to access the training!

For your awareness, the Forum serves primarily as user-to-user discussion, and there's no process for the Church to take our discussions and get them into their systems for consideration. My personal thought is that this is something your Stake President should take up with his Coordinating Council. He could first reach out to the other Stake Presidents to confirm they likewise see the same thing. Then in their Coordinating Council meeting, if all the Stake Presidents share that their Stake leaders cannot watch the training videos, the Area might be incentivized to push for a change to occur.

In addition to the "leadership route" suggested in my previous post, the other "official route" for reporting an issue like this is via the Feedback functionality found at the bottom of most Church webpages, or in Church apps. That gets feedback into the Church's systems for consideration, as opposed to using this Forum which exists primarily for discussion and self-help. For this particular issue, I think both routes are worth pursuing.

First, I'd try using the browser's incognito/private mode. Church web pages suffer from "cookie buildup" that can cause things like that to occur.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

And to the O.P.'s point about it also happening on the Gospel Library app, a data refresh (or logout/login, or uninstall/reinstall) is an equivalent check you can make in the app.
