Cannot pay online tithing

#1

Post by PerfectPitchTrae »

Hi,

Question for a friend. My friend just came from a foreign country a couple months ago and wants to pay tithing. However his church name in his church account is different from the name on the account that he is trying to pay tithing with. He also is using Wisely as a "bank account" to pay tithing with. It has a routing and account number and everything.

Every time he pays tithing though, it bounces back. We are not sure if it because that his name is different or if it is because he is using Wisely rather than established bank. Any and all help is welcomed! Thanks!

Online donation default requirements are the bank should be in the country as well as the currency of the country the member's record is in. The bank account must be either a checking account or savings account. Debit card or credit card accounts will not be accepted. The name used to withdraw on the bank checking or savings account must be authorized by the bank to withdraw funds and the same name on the Church membership record.

From the information provided the primary reason the system will not process the donation is that Wisely is not a bank checking or savings account but rather a prepaid debit card. It was not clear whether your friend is a member of the Church or not. If he is, then his record needs to be in the country he just moved to. Also, the name for the bank checking or savings account should be the same as the name on his Church membership record. This is not a Church requirement but the financial institution's requirement to ensure authorized withdrawal from the account.

Note: For purpose of making online donations the term bank refers to any financial institution that provides checking or savings accounts with a routing number and account number. This includes traditional brick and mortar banks, online banks, and credit unions.
