Hey,
Just saved the day by helping my parents upload scans of their documents. The uploader wouldn’t recognize .jpeg files so I Iiterally just renamed the files to .jpg.
It seems like a small oversight but I doubt my parents are the only ones struggling. I know the church has product researchers because I previously applied for a role a few months ago to catch these kinds of issues but thought I’d share this experience. The scanner I got them is the best seller according to Wirecutter and Amazon so I expect this will become a recurring issue.

JPEG and JPG are interchangeable file extensions representing the same image format established by the Joint Photographic Experts Group. The distinction lies solely in their naming; JPG was used when file systems limited extensions to three characters. Their functionality and compatibility are identical. So it sounds like the Church systems programming has not caught up to the times. Most sites that use JPEG/JPG will accept both, recognizing they are one in the same.

I hope they're not verifying filetypes by extension alone. If they are, someone could upload a malicious file by adding a common image extension to the end of the filename.
