Baby Blessing
Would it be appropriate to give a baby blessing out in the mountains? Or does it have to be done at the church?

Re: Baby Blessing
The policy on baby blessings are in General Handbook 18.6.
The exception on place is a different ward. The scriptural reference talks about bringing the child "before the elders of the church".

Re: Baby Blessing
It appears that in the home with a Bishopric member presiding is a possible exception. The bishop may also authorize Melchizedek Priesthood holders to bless the child in the home. A member of the bishopric presides.

Ah, somehow I missed that part.
That's closer, but not what I think of when op says "out in the mountains".

Re: Baby Blessing
A father's blessing is appropriate anywhere, but the naming and blessing of children that triggers a membership record to be created in the ward needs to be done under the direction of the bishopric. I think your best bet would be to consult your bishop for his guidance (or if you are the bishop, consult a member of the stake presidency).

D&C 20:70 Every member of the church of Christ having children is to bring them unto the elders before the church, who are to lay their hands upon them in the name of Jesus Christ, and bless them in his name.
