Highlights are on wrong words

Post by crs46 »

I submitted a request through the app earlier this week and haven’t heard back. The highlights I’ve had on my profile for years are all of a sudden off as I’ve gotten into Mosiah. As I look at other scriptures and books, they are not correct throughout the library. What I mean by this is the wrong words are highlighted, and it is either the next word to the right or it can be a few words to the right. Sometimes the highlight is accurate. Why is this happening? I’ve been going through and fixing it, but I’m concerned that if I do, the issue will be fixed and everything will revert back. Trying to figure out what to do. I’m using an iPhone 14 with the latest updates.

I’ve logged out and back in to resync, but it’s still the same.

This sounds like a bug and I would hold off making more changes at the moment. If you do not get a response in a few more days, I would send feedback again through the app either until you do or the problem resolves itself. Include in your feedback that you are concerned about making changes that will then be undone again, and that you need to know whether or not to do that.

For many years the actual Church website counted words differently than the app, and there was usually a discrepancy there. I hope they have not fixed one and broken the other, but I think I would wait for everything to settle while they sort it out.

My Mum noticed this as well.
It was easy for her as in one of her readings she highlighted all instances God/Lord/etc.
All incorrected highlights seemed to be off by one word, but even within the same bit, some where off and others were fine.

This is happening with my dad's highly annotated library.

The reason the highlights are off, and why it seems to be inconsistent seems to be based on the number of official footnotes. Each reference, and sometimes some punctuation now seem to be regarded as words when determining the offset for where the highlights go.

No clue if there is a fix, other than editing each one.

I am having the same problem. I noticed it several days ago, maybe a few weeks ago.

I think this issue has been fixed for most users (as of last week).
Is anyone still seeing it?

Mine is back to normal now. I noticed it sometime last week, so hopefully it's working for everyone else, too.

Have you tried signing out and back in (in Gospel Library Settings)?
