Official List of Missions

Post by dandshall2 »

I tried to search the forum to see if an answer was already posted but it states I do not have permission to search, so. I am trying to find an official list of missions, this way when I order missionary plaques I get the correct name, especially on the foreign mission names (to include the tilde character). When I Google search for a list, I do find lists but they are from Wikipedia and other sources, but not one from a church source. I just want to make sure the missionary plaques are done correctly with the name. As an example, the family of one missionary advised the mission name was João Pessoa Brazil Mission, but when I searched for it, it was listed as Brazil João Pessoa Mission. I would just like to refer to an official list with the proper names of missions. Thank you

This is an _UN_official answer, so it might not be accurate: CDOL might have missions listed by their official names.

It does, and it has the accents. The Church News is also a good resource, although they do not always get the accents right.

It helps to know that all missions outside of the United States begin with the country name. So in your case the name you found when you searched is correct. In the U.S., the name begins with the state.

I assume this is for new missionaries that are going out. Mission names do change as boundaries are adjusted.

It's possible the mission they were called to isn't the same as the one they were released from.

The name should be correct on the call letter. You could ask the missionary to give the name on the Call Letter.
