Missionary assignments
Good morning,
We just moved into a new ward. There are a set of senior missionaries but they don’t appear as missionaries. The ward couldn’t figure out how to enter them so they would have access to a ward list so they pulled their records from their home ward and put them in here as members.
How do missionaries serving in the ward get entered? My guess is the mission office but I don’t know for sure.
What would missionaries have access to?
Are senior missionaries entered the same way other missionaries are?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Missionary assignments
If I’m understanding your question correctly. To give the senior missionaries access to things like the ward Calendar, give callings etc., in LCR, you use the Manage Out-of-Unit Members option found under Membership.
You don’t bring their records into to your ward, as this has all sorts of repercussions, including how they might have set up Online donations etc!

Re: Missionary assignments
It looks like they might have been pulled in as out of unit members because they still have callings in their home ward, however they were just put in as members in our ward. Is it possible to get them to appear as full time missionaries - in the missionary section with the elders?

Re: Missionary assignments
I think that would have to be done by the mission office.

Following up,
Can Senior Missionaries be added to the full time missionary section of the ward directory?

Re: Missionary assignments
We have two senior missionaries in our ward directory under the "Assigned" tab. (Looking at the webpage)
As far as I know, the ward has no control over that tab in the Missionary section. It all comes from the Mission Office.

Re: Missionary assignments
I’ll contact the mission office and see if I can get this taken care of. Do you know what kind of access it will give them if they get listed as missionaries serving in the ward ? Is it just the same as a member or is there anything extra?

Re: Missionary assignments
I don't know. I'd assume it would be just member access.

Re: Missionary assignments
Are they proselyting missionaries, or service missionaries? I think that most young service missionaries are now part of a mission, under the direction of a mission president, but for senior service missionaries (especially those living at home) that might not always be the case. If they're not part of an organized mission with a mission president, I don't think there's a way to add them in the Missionary section of Member Tools.

Re: Missionary assignments
I see two senior couples in the "assigned missionary" part of Member Tools for my ward, but I'm not sure what kind of missionaries they are. I don't think they're the stay-at-home type.
