Page numbers for new hymns
Page numbers were included in the printed copy of the new hymns released in May 2024. The page numbers no longer appear when printed for the hymns/music released this year, but they do when printing music from the standard hymnal. Is that intentional?

Re: Page numbers for new hymns
Unless another Forum member is aware of communication about this, I'd expect that we're on the "outside" just like yourself, and left to guess as to whether this is intentional or not. One aspect I haven't seen any details on, is whether the current numbering for the new hymns is simply transitional to support the concurrent "old-and-new-hymns", and whether the hymn numbering will be reset once the current hymnal is retired and only the new hymnal exists. That is, will all the new hymns be grouped together in the new hymnal (currently would be hymns 1-18, and 201-204), or will they be sprinkled throughout the hymnal? Obviously you'd still want any copies printed today to have the "1???" hymn numbers, since that's how we currently identify them beyond just the hymn name.

Re: Page numbers for new hymns
I took upon myself the task of creating printed copies of the new hymns to keep alongside the hymn books in the pews at my meetinghouse. I was also frustrated by the lack of numbers on the PDF files the church provides.
I wrote a tool that adds numbers to the hymns and generates a single PDF file that is suitable for printing double-sided and binding in a folder or binder. If you or someone you know is comfortable running Python applications you can use it.

Would you attached the resulting pdf file?
I found one from a Facebook group and attached it here.

I am an old lady I can hardly turn on my computer let alone open a newly generated document. Can't someone just post the numbers?
Why has the committee on the new hymn book made this so very difficult?

Re: Page numbers for new hymns
Thanks so much. I appreciate the blank pages that were added to eliminate page turns for the two-page hymns.
