Temple Language

Post by historysteve »

Does the church still allow temples to have a whole endowment session in a particular language? I know you can get the headphones l, but I would prefer to have the whole session in language. I am thinking in particular Spanish at the Jordan River temple.

On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, the Jordan River Temple has a Spanish session at 7:00 PM. There are likely other days and times beyond that when Spanish sessions are already on the schedule. They can be found by going to the appointments page.

Thank you for this information, that does work, but I am wondering if there is a way to start the search with language and then filter down to temple and then time? Going temple, then time, then language is a lot clunkier, especially if you are looking for a less common language than Spanish or ASL.

I wouldn't be surprised if the best option is to contact a Temple directly and request that information. I know the Spanish-language wards I've attended in various places, all seem to know exactly when their local Temple will have specific Spanish-language availability for the various ordinances. I expect that Temples with established schedules for non-English ordinance work, would likely be able to share that info with you.

And if there's no current way for the Church website to be set for what you describe, that sounds like something you can request via the standard Feedback tool available at the bottom of most Church webpages, or via the Church apps. That will get your input into the correct Church system. It sounds like a good idea, but I'm not sure how easy it would be for the Church to integrate some type of language filter into their calendaring-type of interface, so that the only dates that the Appointment Calendar shows are those with language-specific ordinances for the language you've selected.

Right now I do not know of any way to do that. I think you need to contact each temple to get the information. As has been suggested, it may be worth sending feedback to see if this is something that might be added to the scheduling process.

You can find other language sessions by hunting through the scheduling site, but it is not simple. Our temple does a Spanish-speaking session each week at a regular time. But they also do a Tongan-speaking session once a month on a certain Saturday. That one would be harder to discover through the schedule.

If there are a number of temples in traveling distance, you might email each temple office and ask for the information. It is subject to change, of course. With technology today, any session can run in almost any language and it can all be set just before the session begins.
