Finding local church buildings and meeting times

I travel a lot and find it difficult to get information on local church buildings and meeting times. Today for example the parking lot was empty and I assumed it must be stake conference. (This has happened several times before). Could not find which building was the Stake Center on the church website and thought Stake Conference could actually be at another location like it is in our stake sometimes. Found the stake center using Google, but missed most of the meeting. There's got to be a better way for travellers and investigators.

Before leaving on a trip, I use the meetinghouse locator (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/wel ... h?lang=eng) to find a building close to where I plan to stay, then contact the bishop to confirm the meeting times. Contact information is usually provided when you select a building. It does take a little planning, but is not terribly difficult (IMO).

I've had similar problems when our family traveled more. I even put in a suggestion that the church put info like stake conference in the meetinghouse locator, since Salt Lake controls the dates.

Our stake is participating in the new local unit website problem. I do try to post on our ward website when we have unusual meeting times. So you could check to see if the unit you're visiting has any such information. The church doesn't necessarily make it easy at this point to find a unit's website. Hopefully they'll fix that. When we had the previous local unit website program, the meetinghouse locator actually had a link to the local unit website, so maybe they'll bring back the link. Still, that requires someone like me to update the information, and I suspect many people won't think to do that. I've found in traveling that there are some units that don't keep their meeting times accurate in CDOL.
