Waitlist notifications for full temple sessions

Post by bownut »

Our sisters in RS have asked if there is a way to adopt changes that will allow us to be notified when a spot opens up for a temple session.

If you're asking about potential future enhancements to the websites or the apps, there are only two ways to influence that:
1. Suggest the idea to your stake president and temple president and ask them to pass the suggestion up the chain of command;
2. Put the suggestion in feedback on the app or the Church website.

However, I understand there are higher priorities that will probably keep the limited development resources busy for a considerable number of years.

The best way I have seen is to check back the day before or the morning of a desired session.

Reminders go out 24 hours in advance to those with reservations, and a few always cancel at that point because their plans have changed.

Some members will also schedule other ordinances and then ask to attend an endowment session instead when they arrive at the temple. That often works. They are there, dressed, and ready, and someone with a reservation has not shown up. It is not guaranteed, but it happens every day in our temple.

Every temple is different. A member should ask at the temple for other ideas. The workers there will have suggestions, and the temple staff will know from experience when most reservations cancel. That is the time to try again. Other than that, scheduling early is usually the key to success.

Because someone cancels or no shows almost every time, I am not sure the programmers would set up a waitlist. But as rmrichesjr said, it would be worth sending a suggestion through the Feedback link or through priesthood leaders to ask for that possibility. They may consider it.
