No and no. I can't access http://new.lds.org/leader, nor can I access http://new.lds.org/mls/mbr -- in both cases, I get "Access Denied: You are not authorized to access this page." I just checked again this morning -- no change.

And yet I do have calendar permissions and directory permissions, and CDOL shows up on my Tools menu, so clearly there are some parts of the site that act differently because of my assistant stake clerk calling. But not the leader or MLS portions.

There may have been an intent to include assistant stake clerks in this release, but it's not working yet.

I found out that they excluded finance clerks at this point. I wonder if the problem is that you are listed as both the finance clerk and the STS.

Could one of you that is just the STS check and see if your rights are working?

I'm the STS in my stake and I do not have access either.

Who does make the "permissions" decisions - is this a programmer thing or a committee thing? Or, some combination of a programmer thing first then a committee thing....,
I have to say that sometimes who can access and who can't is puzzling...

These ward/stake duties often overlap, such as purchasing form the distribution center, but sometimes the "permissions" lock every ward into a "perfect ward" scenario. We aren't all built exactly the same.

If one of us is out of town for a few weeks, or sick but not yet released or replaced, another leader often covers, but then that member can't access the right part of the "new" tools because it's not "their" calling.

Can there be a way made in the future for local units to have some control over "who" can access "what" in spite of their MLS calling?
If our ward wants our "local service missionaries" to also work as employment specialists, why can't our bishop, who has the authority to instruct them on what he wants them to do, also give them the "permissions" on the new site that an employment specialist would have? Would a little more "local" control be bad?

It looks like I was a bit too broad in this statement. They did include stake and district callings, but it was the councilors and the generic Assistant Clerk and the Assistant Clerk - Membership. STS was left off the list .

The good news is that tracking this down has started the request for STS's to be added to the list.

Please report back when the position of STS has been added. There's a number of forum members with that calling and I'm sure they be interested.

Certainly. I should have looked at the list closer when I saw it the first time. I heard they were adding assistant clerks, except for finance and just assumed that STS's would be in the list.

What would the objection be if you just added the "employment specialist" calling to the appointed "local service missionary"? Not only would it give that person the rights of an employment specialist, but it would help others - including the ward members - know who acting in that capacity.
