What is the major diferences between PVC and MHW (Meetinghouse Webcast Software)?

Can't webcasts and video conferences be done using a single software? I ask it because I can't understand so much about the differences between these to video-streaming technologies.

PVC is a two-way communication, the participants can interact with video and audio.
MHW is just one-way communication, there is a one location sending video and audio to many others location that only receives this data.

We use both and they are working well so far.

What if I use PVC as a one-way direction tool like Webcast? As I understand I could provide PVC session without the back stream just not to implement 2 applications for similar purposes. Is there any advantage MWC vs PVC ?
What tool works more stable? To what tool the technical requirements are more strong?

I'm there with you ChizhovkaIN. In my stake we are looking at being able to have speakers in other buildings in the stake and for them to speak from there. The webcasting software is great for one way and everything coming from one location, but I see that this software to make it much easier for me to be able to accomplish speakers from multiple locations during stake conference. I can see this software being used in a preisthood leadership, bishopric and other type of individual training as well. Another good example is that our high councilman currently have to travel to different buildings to train the priesthood leaders of the ward. I can see that this would cut down on the travel.

So it will be great to hear others experience on this and I for one will give it a try.

One of the questions that I have, is will this software recognize video capture cards, such as the TV capture card or the Ospry 260e that we would use for webcasting?

Thanks for letting us know.

PVC certainly has the capability to do what you are talking about. It will take some personnel expertise to be able to manage the muting and camera work that would be required to accomplish your desire in a fashion that would be acceptable to the viewing parties. It will also require a FEW practice sessions to get comfortable doing everything. I am sure that others out there have done this due to travel. Living in Utah I don't have those needs but am very familiar with both technologies. But the short answer is that PVC will do what you are wondering about.

Tips for using PVC

We have been collection Vidyo tips from various sources
Please advise about what should be added

a) Before you start a conference from your desktop/laptop, please click here to access the LDS Speed Teatweb page and verify yournetwork speed to headquarters servers. if your speed is less than 1Mbps for upload and download speeds, your video quality will be degraded.
b) Join your own room, click on "My Room" then click "Join Room" and this will give you video feedback and can click the settings 'cog' icon, select the devices tab and set up the appropriate audio/video devices. After any changes to your camera or audio devices, you will need to adjust your settings bu clicking on the 'cog' icon
c) To search for users, start typing the user's name into the search bar - results should pop up automatically. To add them to your contact list, click the name of the user, then the 'Address Book with a + sign' icon near the upper right.
d) To see all users currently logged in, search for *
e) To see all users with a registered account, but not logged in, search for %, (enter %CR-% for some of the conference rooms in PVC)
f) you can 'call direct' a telephone number by entering 99 then 1 and area code and telephone number
g) Guest account for desktops/laptops can use the online feature and they will need the Vidyo application installed, Please click here to access "How To Invite a Guest"
h) Guest account can not be used by VidyoMobile devices at this time (as of 26Apr2012)

i) Audio Considerations:
1) For best quality, use a standalone echo cancelling mic or a headset. Most microphones that are built into laptops because of their proximity to the device and lack of echo canceling. Logitech provides several models of echo canceling USB microphones with cameras
2) For privacy you may also want to use USB headphones with an echo cancelling microphone. Logitech offers many good choices, especially those that are meant for gaming.
3) For speakerphones, Clearone offers many good choices such as Chat 50/150 http://www.clearone.com/video-conferenc ... phone.html.
4) Audio initially settings, while in a call, click the Settings (cog) Icon, then select Devices
a) 'Auto Adjust Microphone Level' - recommended setting is OFF. It has been found user's input level was generally set too low when this was checked.
b) 'Echo Cancellation' - recommended setting is OFF if you have a headset/echo cancelling microphone or ON if you don't. This setting will attempt to minimize echo problems when not using a proper echo canceling microphone or headset. Unfortunately, by checking this the system will cut off your microphone when other sites are talking. While this does reduce echo, it makes interactive converstations difficult.
j) Network
1) Use direct network connection unless using a mobile wireless device, then stay still near where you have a strong signal
2) If you are cabled to the internet, then make sure the device wireless connection is turned OFF, (if both are turned it may cause a conflict).
3) Wireless is not recommended due to latency and general instability
4) Vidyo auto-adjusts video frame rates for the individual Internet user speed level.
k) Sharing a desktop (or PowerPoint), use the mouse to point to items on the slides for remote users
