I was just browsing around the callings for High Council and saw a calling for "High Council Adviser" and was wondering what this calling is as I cannot see anything in the Handbook.

That's a good question. I don't know what the purpose of that standard calling in MLS is. The stake presidency does assign high councilors to take responsibility for each ward and branch and for each stake auxiliary (see Handbook 2, 15.3.1). Those high councilors who have these assignments are often called advisers, such as the Anytown Ward Adviser, or the Stake Young Women Adviser. But that is a convention used in some stakes and not official terminology for those assignments in current handbooks.

In any case, almost every high councilor (and in many stakes, every high councilor) will have at least one of these advisory roles, so there isn't much point in designating a high councilor (who already has the standard calling of "Stake High Councilor") as having an additional assignment of "High Council Adviser."

Remove High Council Adviser?

If the calling is not in the handbook, can someone file a ticket to have that removed from the official list of callings? For those stakes that have invented a use for it, could they not create a custom calling?
