The YW president in my ward (I'm the finance clerk) is asking me for documentation that the church is a 501(c)(3) organization--apparently she needs it for the YW's fundraiser. Does anybody know if there is an easy way to request this type of document from Salt Lake? Any help is appreciated.
the irs publishes ALL 501(c)(3) organizations in pub 78. it will be sufficient for many purposes to point anyone with a need to verify to that publication. an online searchable version is maintained here:
I couldn't find our church using the search tool, but here's a direct link to it on the same site. Hopefully this makes it easier for anyone still looking: http://apps.irs.gov/app/eos/pub78Search.do?ein1=87-0234341&names=&city=&state=All...&country=US&deductibility=all&dispatchMethod=searchCharities&submitName=Search
Updated url https://apps.irs.gov/app/eos/displayAll.do?dispatchMethod=displayAllInfo&Id=997219&ein=870234341&zipCode=&country=US&deductibility=all&dispatchMethod=searchAll&isDescending=false&city=&ein1=87-0234341&postDateFrom=&exemptTypeCode=al&submitName=Search&sortColumn=orgName&totalResults=1&names=&resultsPerPage=25&indexOfFirstRow=0&postDateTo=&searchChoice=&state=UT
Use the IRS link in geowizrds post and do a search for EIN 870234341 (which I pulled out of the URL above.
