Does anyone know where to find the "established checklist" that the Stake President is to use to train new Bishops? I speak of the checklist addressed in the Stake audit questions.

It refers to a Presiding Bishopric Letter from March 15, 2005. I assume, then, that this letter is available in the Official Communications Library.

As you may or may not have noticed, posting that document is not allowed. However, if you (or anyone else who wants it) send me a PM with your stake ID and who you want me to send the pdf to, if I can verify it in the CDOL, I will send it. If not, I will send it to the first email address listed in the CDOL for the stake presidency. Hopefully this is a fair compromise between the code of conduct and helping out those who can't gain access to this document.

I’ve served twice as a Branch President and twice as a Bishop. Currently I serve as a stake historian. I have no need to see a checklist to aid stake presidents in training new Bishops other than curiosity. If such a checklist exists I’d like to see it however. How may I see the checklist?

Also about 40 years ago my Bishop told me Bishops training lasted several days in conjunction with general conference. At that time if my memory is correct, Bishops training was only one day and occurred somewhere on temple square. I believe conference itself lasted three days with talks, etc, is that correct?

This particular topic is about a specific checklist that stake presidents were to use to train new bishops concerning their responsibilities in the use of fast offering funds. I believe it is still used, although I cannot find it.

In the 1980s a new bishop was sent one time to general conference after he was called. By the end of the 80s that practice had been discontinued. During that time and into the 1990s, a stake president was sent to general conference each April and received a day of training, usually on Friday, before the conference began. In the 2000s, stake presidents were trained by two apostles in meetings held in major cities around the world that took place within a few weeks of each conference. Now, stake presidents and their counselors (and sometimes bishops) attend leadership training every three or four years in their region or a nearby region. The training is provided by an apostle, a general authority seventy, and an area seventy. Stake presidents also participate in quarterly regional council meetings conducted by an assigned area seventy.

Before 1977, general conference usually lasted three days and occasionally four. In 1977 the Church announced that conference would be conducted for two days each time, on the first Sunday in April and October, and the preceding Saturday. That is why conference sometimes happens on March 31st or September 30th.
