MLS Email Reference to MLS Web Login

An email from membership referenced the following site to download a new version of MLS: http://lds.org/mls/login . No one in my ward knows our password, nor what exactly this site is for. Please clarify.

The wiki article MLS download site explains just what the site is for, and how to obtain the password.
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.
