Use of Blogs and/or Facebook to facilitate Church programs

Use of Blogs and/or Facebook to facilitate Church programs

Post by durness1 »

I would like to know if there is a Church policy on the use of Facebook and/or Blogs to assist in the administration of a Church program. For example, we are wanting to provide an avenue for parents to provide input into the new Youth Curriculum and it was suggested that we could use a Blog to do so.

Any direction or thoughts?

I've no a Facebook account and I not agree with the suggestion that some local leaders give to have one.
I think that FB is a commercial company and invite to subscribe is an advertisement!
Any way Church has a FB group. I've not yet hear an invitation to partecipate so, IMHO, only Church Website are worthy to be used.
Local leaders can use other resources being well known about advertisement and privacy! :)

Read carefully Handbook 2: 21.1.22

One of the things you're going to have to figure out is what constitutes a "church" blog and a "personal" blog.

My personal guide line is that if the name of the blog contains the unit name, it a church blog. If a church committee decides what goes in there, then it's probably a church blog.
