Can Notes and Journal be in a pop out window so that I can view it at the same time I am researching additional resources?
How do I add links (hyperlinks) to my Notes and Journal? Didn't find a tutorial on the subject.

Have you tried just opening another browser window? You'll need to refresh your Notes and Journal page to see any updates, but it ought to work.
To get your second browser window, you can either open a new one and navigate to https://lds.org or just right click on a link on your page and choose to open in a new window.
I quite frequently have multiple browser windows open at lds.org and it works fine. Just make sure you don't click on any http (without the 's') links or you'll get logged out.
