combining two wards (Records and files)

#1

Post by brofisher »

We have combined two wards in our stake and we are wondering if there is direction on how long old forms of memberships, financial etc should be kept and where to store such files.

Any help would be welcome.

Thanks

As I understand it, the stake clerk takes possession of all documentation from the discontinued unit. The normal retention rules for membership and financial documents apply. Any documents older than stated in the retention rules should be shredded, unless they have some historical significance.

The one exception may be priesthood ordinations from a certain period of time. Church Headquarters would be interested.
