Elders Quorum Executive Secretary- Send A Message

#1

Post by ramonc »

An Elders Quorum Executive Secretary in our stake until today was able to use "Send a Message". Tonight he says he is getting Access Denied. Has he just been lucky with a custom calling being able to send in the past and a bug got fixed? Is Elders Quorum Executive Secretary a Standard calling? I am not seeing that as on option where I have looked.

Custom callings give no rights. None at all. He must have had some other calling that gave him access. Check his calling date. Perhaps someone wanted to "tweak" his title and didn't realize that it would deprive him of the electronic keys to his calling.

I don't think there's any such thing as a "Elders Quorum Executive Secretary". But something closer to "Elders Quorum Secretary" is a valid standard calling.

I agree with the custom callings comment. I suspect the calling he had has been removed possibly.

The prior emails he sent from "Send a Message" said "You received this email because you made your email address available to your local Church leaders. It was sent by ......., whose calling is Elders Quorum Assistant Secretary." So we know he had the rights.

If someone can direct me where to set him up as the "Elders Quorum Assistant Secretary" again so he has those rights it would be appreciated. It is not jumping out at me as I go to "Ward Leadership" "Add another calling" it is not in the drop down for Standard Callings

In LCR, from the menu select Organizations > Elders Quorum, then click Elders Quorum Presidency. If the standard calling shows up then just click Edit and assign them to the calling. If it doesn't show up then click Add Another Calling and it should show up under Hidden Callings.

Are you a stake leader/clerk, or ward? The calling may need to be recorded on the ward level.

Yes, I'm almost positive this must be done on the ward level since EQ secretaries and assistant secretaries are called and set apart by the EQ presidency, not the stake.

The calling is a custom calling ("Executive Secretary") in an elders quorum. Custom callings do not provide any access to Church systems.

So, It appears to me that someone wanted the EQ to have an "Executive" secretary instead of an "Assistant" and messed things up.

Only Bishoprics and Stake Presidencies get "Executive" secretaries.
