There are some articles online about calculating cost of printing, per page, which I think would make the most sense. For example:
Samuel Bradshaw • If you desire to serve God, you are called to the work.

avoid all appearances of evil. Print at church then there is no doubt.

Probably way late on this, but I ran across it searching for an answer to the same situation. One thing that occurred to me is that most printer models have a cost per page associated with them in the reviews. That may be a better basis of reimbursement.

What if it isn't 'toner', but on an inkjet printer. How much color, if any, was used.

Many, many years ago, I was called to be Ward organist. I know how to play the piano (some) but had never played the organ. The Bishop said he would give me a key to the chapel so I could go practice. Great offer, but, we lived over half an hour away from the chapel and I was working way too many hours and really didn't have the time to go to the Chapel to practice. Solution: We looked around and bought an old used organ. No, I didn't ask for reimbursement from the Ward because I chose to do something at home, pay for it out of pocket, just because it was more convenient rather than going to the Church and getting the same benefits for free.
