Need to record death but dont know ward of the deceased

#1

Post by jamesryanaycock »

A woman in my ward recently had a sister to pass away. Her sister had been inactive for decades and has moved around a lot so she doesn't know what ward her records are in.
How do I contact headquarters to inquire about having her death recorded? When I try to click on "contact us" in LCR the page will never load..
Obviously, the easy way would be to just move the deceased's record into my ward and then record the death, piece of cake... but is that an appropriate action to take??

Thanks,

If you can't get the page to work, I'd call support and talk to them.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

Do not request the membership record. Just call the Global Service Department and give them the information.

A few years ago, the mother of my daughter-in-law passed away. I had heard that she was a member of the church in her youth, so I ran her name and birth date through the LCR Move In dialog to see if it could locate a record for her. It did, but I did not move her record into my ward. I entered her home address into the Meetinghouse Locator to find her current ward. Then I used CDOL to send an email to her clerk and bishopric, attaching her obituary. A week or two later, her membership record was marked as deceased, and her living ordinances appeared in a new FamilySearch record in Family Tree.

Wow! I just clicked on Help -> Contact Us in LCR, which opened https://lds.service-now.com/gsc
I have never seen this page before!
