YM specialist access to LCR
Is there any status on the effort to grant some level of access to LCR for YM Quorum Specialists?
Our Bishop just called. Quorums Specialist to assist with communication and coordination between the Quorums. We would find it helpful for him to be able to see Quorum class lists, ministering assignments and send a message.
Would others find this useful?

We are having this exact same problem. Now that there is no YM Presidency, how do YM Leaders get access to be able to email parents of YM? Or even get a list of the YM in the quorums?

Advisors have access to LCR. Specialists do not.

In addition to specialists assigned to each quorum, a standard calling is a Quorums Specialist. Last week our Bishop called one to help coordinate between the quorums or act as kind of a young men's secretary for the bishopric in their capacity of young men's presidency. He's not going to be pleased when we tell him that this new person will have no access in LCR.
I've submitted a request through the feedback option on the church website but I suspect that our Bishop will also run a request through the Stake.up the chain.

You might want to review the role of the specialist in the new General Handbook: (10.3.6).wrigjef wrote:I've submitted a request through the feedback option on the church website but I suspect that our Bishop will also run a request through the Stake.up the chain.
I see nothing in there about specialists having responsibility for individuals that tends to be the deciding factor on access. The only thing that seems to come close is compiling attendance information (10.3.5).
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

Always helps to call people to the right calling so they have the right access, then blaming the church when you give someone an assignment that they can't actually perform.wrigjef wrote:In addition to specialists assigned to each quorum, a standard calling is a Quorums Specialist. In our ward the Bishop called Two Advisers per quorum, then we found out that only one is allowed, officially, so they created non-standard callings. Is this really that hard?

I wonder if someone who has a non-standard calling is required (by the software) to complete the Protecting Children and Youth training?
If not, then why not? Custom callings could become a dangerous loophole.

We specifically highlighted that case with that team when hooking them up to membership data. They are required to complete the training.drepouille wrote:I wonder if someone who has a non-standard calling is required (by the software) to complete the Protecting Children and Youth training?

Thanks, I’ll pass that on.

So what is the solution? I can't add more Advisors. Can the Church change it so Specialists have access? Or can they bring back the YM Secretary calling? We need a way to allow this person to support the Bishop.scgallafent wrote:Advisors have access to LCR. Specialists do not.
