Gospel Living App and Google API requirements

Hello Team,

First I want to compliment you for all of the great work you do. The apps from the church are extremely well made, and the UI and features well though out. I tip my hat to you from one software developer to another.

My question today, is whether or not the Gospel Living App has any google specific dependencies on Android that when not present would prevent the app from functioning correctly?

I am using a degoogled version of Android (based on (9)Pie), and am noticing that my my circles do not ever sync, although I appear to be logged in.

If you require any additional information, I'd be happy to oblige.

I have Google Play services disabled on my phone. I receive a notification: "Enable Google Play Services. Gospel Living app won't work unless you enable Google Play services." I can't even sign in.
