Hello, everyone!
I'm a new clerk in a new bishopric, and I'm hoping you all can help me out. The weekly financial summaries for the ward (those automated emails) are going to the second counselor's wife's email address, instead of to the second counselor.
I've checked in the directory, and their emails are not mixed up in there. Their correct and proper individual emails are listed under their individual profiles, and neither of them have a family email listed.
Has anyone run into this before, and if so how did you fix it? Thanks!

Re: Automated Financial Emails going to wrong address
I'd ask him to go to https://account.churchofjesuschrist.org/email and check the email address in his Church Account. It's supposed to be the same as the one in the membership record but perhaps something went wrong in the sync process.

I'd also check the emails in CDOL. I suspect that's where the info is pulled for "high level" things.

CDOL doesn't store a separate email for positions in wards/branches/stakes/districts, it just uses the individual email address with the membership record.russellhltn wrote:I'd also check the emails in CDOL. I suspect that's where the info is pulled for "high level" things.

Perhaps that changed. I thought it was an issue in the past. I do see where it does store phone numbers separate from the directory.jonesrk wrote:CDOL doesn't store a separate email for positions in wards/branches/stakes/districts, it just uses the individual email address with the membership record.

Re: Automated Financial Emails going to wrong address
CDOL used to store all separate contact info. A few years back there was a change made for the email to try an consolidate all of the emails to be consistent, that is when CDOL was changed to only use the member's email for those organization types.russellhltn wrote:Perhaps that changed. Re: Automated Financial Emails going to wrong address
But we still have OP's mystery. Assuming the email shown in the directory for the individual is the same as the one on the membership record, I don't see how this could happen. Not unless there's a bug in how the email is selected, or some kind of caching going on.
I don't think cross-linked Church Accounts would do it.
The only other thing is if the email is wrong, but close enough that it's getting routed to the other person's email. I think I've seen that before. For example, I know GMail ignores periods, so "first.last@gmail" is the same as "firstlast@gmail". Likewise, some domains are the same: @aol.com and @compuserve.com will land in the same email box. But there may be others.
Then there's always the possibility of the unintended consequences of a forwarding rule. It was intended to forward certain church emails to the wife, but also is forwarding the financial reports.

Re: Automated Financial Emails going to wrong address
Looking at some details I can see for the second counselor I see the wife's email in one place (not completely sure where that comes from). I think eblood66 suggestion is the first thing to try. If not he may need to contact the GSD to get them to help clean it up.
One other idea might be to change his email in LCR and then change it back later (he could use the gmail option of adding a +<anything> to his email) and see if that causes it to sync up.

Ok, so cross-linked accounts are a possibility. If the MRN on "her" account is his, when she goes to check "her" profile, she'll be entering in her email address which will link back to his membership record.jonesrk wrote:Looking at some details I can see for the second counselor I see the wife's email in one place (not completely sure where that comes from). Re: Automated Financial Emails going to wrong address
I don't think the accounts are cross linked but in the account data I can see her email is in one field. Again I don't know what app manages that email or how it got there.russellhltn wrote:Ok, so cross-linked accounts are a possibility.
