ministering assignments under LCR problems

#1

Post by NERussell »

Today during presidency meeting I made several changes to ministering assignments and I could not get the changes to save. Individual assignments would save but when I reopened the ministering assignments under LCR the changes were not there. I’m using the latest iOS on an iPad. Anyone else having these same problems?

There are server and connectivity problems today. This is not unusual for the high load demands on Sundays.

If you are trying to make changes on Sunday and it isn't working wait for some other day. LCR often fails between 10 am and 2:30 pm on mountain time on Sun. As best I can tell the church simply lacks the server capacity for those hours of the day.

It is very frustrating but simply the facts of life. Some Sundays even outside of those hours LCR messes up. In the last calendar year it has probably cost me 10 hours. Really wish some of the functions would be restored to MLS so when things are down we could keep running anyway.

There is a post in another thread where a church developer indicated that if it these issues were simply a matter of server capacity, it would have been fixed long before now. Something else is going on that impacts the processes and the best we can do is be patient and try to avoid the busiest days as much as possible. I'm not a programmer and have no special insight, but I suspect the leadership of the church is well aware of the challenges. They work in the system just as the rest of us do and the church programmers have callings that may make them use LCR just like we do.

Is this still an issue for others? I have build out ministering over the last few Sundays, unfortunately also during the 10-2 timeframe. Each time after building these assignments out none have saved. It’s for a new ward so there are many assignments, so I have not wanted to make another attempt until the next Sunday. If this capacity issue still holds true, I will need to change my tactics.

Are you using the "Proposed Assignments" tool, or trying to make the changes directly in the "Current Assignments"? One approach might be to make just a couple changes, then log out and log back in and see if the changes remain. If you're using the "Proposed Assignments" then you shouldn't need to worry about leaving things 'in-progress', since no members (besides the Presidency) will see those incomplete ministering assignments until after they are reviewed and published.

And if using the "Proposed Assignments", you could try making some changes during the week, avoiding the potential system overload issues you suspect might be occurring, and also not having to worry about not making all the assignments at the same time.
