Membership Record says I've never attended the ward.
About two weeks ago my membership records were in the ward I've attended for the last year and a half. But now they are not showing up in the ward, and I have no access to membership tools. I contacted the ward clerk to find my records and put them back in the ward, but he told me that my records say that I never attended their ward. I was attending as frequently as I could with our ward being locked down for most of the year with covid, and I was paying tithing throughout the year and did tithing settlement with the Bishop at the end of the year. Furthermore I met with the Bishop 3 weeks ago for an ecclesiastical endorsement. How can my record say that I was never a member of their ward?

The clerk may have misread something. But what I believe really needs to happen is that you should ask your clerk to request your membership records and get them back into the ward where you live.jaredleeh1319 wrote:How can my record say that I was never a member of their ward?
My own record shows that I moved here from a ward I never attended in my life. It got caught in a Family move that should have been an Individual move by one of my children. So my record is wrong and has never been corrected because the actual record was in that ward, even though none of the rest of our family were there.

As far as I know there is nothing on the membership record (or at least the part visible to units) that shows a member's entire unit history. I do believe a clerk can see back one year so the most the clerk could know if for the last year. But my guess is that your record accidentally got sent to the 'address unknown' file. Whenever a record comes back from address unknown it gives a message about that. Perhaps the clerk misinterpreted that message.
However, if you paid tithing in the ward (including online) then there should definitely still be a donor record in the ward.

If they don't have your records, then how does he know what it says?jaredleeh1319 wrote:I contacted the ward clerk to find my records and put them back in the ward, but he told me that my records say that I never attended their ward.
They might have you confused with someone else. This becomes more likely if the name you're known by is different from your legal name.

That info is indeed visible. I can see a couple of members in our unit who I know moved around a bit in the last year, and their records reflect that (for those members with multiple prior units listed, there is an info button next to the "Prior Unit" which says that it's showing the previous 12 months). So I'd imagine that if they really do have your records, the clerk should be able to display the history.I do believe a clerk can see back one year so the most the clerk could know if for the last year.
In cases like this, what I'd really like to also have is info listing who it was that actually triggered the record move... we've had cases where nobody on either side seems to claim responsibility for records that either magically move into or out of our unit!
