Loss of privileges for Stake Exec Sec??

#1

Post by veehb »

I used to be able to see membership information on both the Church website and Tools. That is very helpful in setting up appointments for priesthood advancements and others for members of the stake presidency. i don't see any changes in the access list for my calling. is there any way for me to regain access to membership info (only, no changes need to be made)? Does it require special permission from the stake president?

I really miss the old technology forum. Lots of help was found there, most of it from other ward and stake workers.

Where do we go to get that kind of help today?

Thanks,

Vee Butterfield

Were you holding a different calling at the time? Access is determined by calling. With very few exceptions, there's no way to change it short of changing/adding callings.

This forum has been around since January 2007. It's undergone some changes, but I think it's still fundamentally the same. Before that was an email list. Many of the same people from that list are still around here.

I've been in this position, Stake Exec Sec, for over ten years. I used to be able to see the priesthood ordinations, missions served, ordinances they have received, etc. Sometimes when getting someone cleared by the high council or ready for an appointment to meet with the stake presidency, some of that information was useful. When someone was being called as a counselor in a bishopric, for example, it was very helpful to see if he was a high priest or an if elder he would need to be ordained a high priest and will need the interviews and clearances. Often when calling someone to a stake mission calling, it was most helpful to see what prior missionary calls they had and what language they spoke. Not sure why the permissions were changed and if they can be restored. There was no notice they just went away in both platforms a few weeks ago. I know some of the information is confidential, but I was very careful to protect that.

According to the access table, the Stake Executive Secretary can view member profiles (just as I can as Elder's Quorum President and I can see their priesthood in their member profile). I think something has changed that is blocking your access. Just a hunch: if you have a second calling that doesn't grant access (like a stake technology specialist), you might have to switch to the other calling to see what you saw before.

Thanks for the above comments. I have spent some time today looking through the Access Table. I've compared my access with the stake clerk's and we both have access to the member profiles. I have a very limited amount of data that I can access. Not sure if the Stake Clerk has additional access in his member profiles. We may need to sit together and compare access privileges. As of a couple of weeks ago I could see more member information and calling information. I could see a list of the ordinances received by a member and who performed them. I could see if the member has served a mission and it if was a foreign language mission. I could see his current calling and when he was sustained. It showed a members preferred name. There was lots of information helpful in working with the stake presidency on callings and appointments. I found that Tools had more of this type of information than was found in the Church website. Now both of these systems have stopped showing any extended membership information or history. I suspect that some of the data I was seeing has been restricted from display. But don't understand why. And see no information regarding these changes in the Tech area. That information was very helpful to my calling. I also went through the Forums and Wiki and other information in the Tech area. Helpful, but didn't answer my question. Guess I'll just have to accept that for whatever reason that information is no longer available on line. And, probably won't be available in the future. Thanks again to those who replied to my question yesterday.

One more thing. There was more information in the Tools system than in Leader and Clerk Resources. Some of the information is still in both, such as dates sustained, etc., but a lot has been removed. Maybe they are making Tools and LCR more the same? Sorry to take so much time here. Just hate to see useful information no longer available. I was not aware that Tech was available from LCR. It's pretty much the same as when it was a separate website.

I'd suggest going into CDOL and doing a search on your name and looking at the historical section.

Based on what you used to be able to see, I suspect you were also some kind of clerk.
